Control of linear water waves in a simple region

1983
Waves on a fluid surface may be controlled by the movement of the containing walls. This paper considers small-amplitude linear waves in a two-dimensional region. For a simplified geometry, we construct the open-loop control which steers a given initial state to zero in infinite time, and show that no such control exists for finite time.
