Group therapy interventions with late adolescents transitioning out of a long-term residential setting

1996
This paper focuses on the need by late adolescents in long-term out-of-home placement to have mental health interventions, such as a time-limited, theme-focused group experience as they make the transition to an independent living status. The authors compare and contrast their experience with two such groups, through a discussion of the positive and negative events that occurred in each group. There is a strong endorsement to continue group interventions as a prevention technique for adolescents making the transition from long-term out-of-home placement to independent living.
