Indonesia, as an archipelagic country has its own problem facing the electricity demand in its region, including 3T area. In border region, outermost island and underdeveloped area (3T) use diesel power plant as a primary source. To constrain the usage of diesel power plant (PLTD), another designated power plant is created. Renewable energy which has not been much utilized can be used to limit the usage of diesel power plant. Using the peak load data and assumption data of periodic load in Pulau Selayar by quantitative method, manually calculation is conducted to determine the ideal configuration of power plant. Five categories of configuration are designed, the first is diesel power plant configuration with a capacity of 10 x 1,2 MW, second is solar power plant (PLTS) capacity of 34,3 MWp on pumped hydro storage (PLTA Pompa) capacity of 298,5 MWh as the storage, third is solar power plant configuration capacity is 30,8 MWp on energy storage battery as much as 302 x 1,2 MWh. Fourth is 10 x 1,2 MW diesel power plant on solar power plant of 32,4 MWp and 281,85 MWh of pumped hydro storage, fifth is diesel power plant of 10 x 1,2 MW on solar power plant capacity of 29,15 MWp with battery storage as much as 284 x 1,2 MWh. Based on those configurations, solar power plant on pumped hydro storage is selected as the most ideal power plant to be built in the evaluated region due to its longer storage life and lower cost compared to other power plant configurations
