The invention discloses a low-density zeolite biological aerated filter filling and a preparation method thereof. The filling is a low-density zeolite biological aerated filter filling which is prepared through adopting foamed plastics particles as inner cores and adopting natural zeolite particles as shells. The raw materials of the filling comprise zeolite ore, cement and the foamed plastics particles. The preparation method is characterized by: crushing the zeolite ore; mixing the crushed zeolite ore and the cement to obtain a mixed material; then adding the mixed material to the foamed plastics particles while spraying water to enable the mixed material to be coated on the surface of the foamed plastics particles to obtain the low-density zeolite biological aerated filter filling. The low-density zeolite biological aerated filter filling provided by the present invention has high porosity, and has a pore size of 0.01-0.1 mm, such that the microorganisms can deeply enter into the inner void of the filling particles, therefore, the filling has large microorganism loading and high ammonia nitrogen removing efficiency. In addition, the filling has synchronous adsorption dephosphorization effects.
