Quantitation of hemoglobins A and S separated by starch gel electrophoresis

1968
Abstract A simple and rapid technique for the quantitative determination of hemoglobins separated by starch gel electrophoresis has been described. This method, in which the hemoglobin concentration is measured in an alkaline starch-hemoglobin solution, has been used to determine the per cent HbS in individuals with sickle cell trait.
