Subtraction type treatments, applied after one cut made to uniformize the vegetation, were: complete. complete minus N. minus P. minus limestone. minus micro nutrients, and control. The treatment without P showed reductions of 25, 40, and 37% in the same soils. The absence of micro nutrients caused a significam decrease (P<0.05) of24 and 28% in grass production at Vassouras and Pindamo­ nhangaba and had no influence (P<0.05) at Pirai. The treatment without N showed reductions of 64%. 51%, and 53%, in grass production at Vassouras, Piraf, and Pindamonhangaba. respectively.
