New Paradigm Organizational Leadership versus Management

2013
Running an organization towards a constructive change begins by setting a direction - developing a long term vision with strategies for making the changes needed to achieve that vision. Management develops this capacity of achieving the organization and coordination plans by creating an organizational structure and a set of vacant positions in order to meet the plans requests, hiring qualified people, communicating the plans to the employees, delegating responsibilities and set up the necessary systems for the implementation supervision. Leadership is the ability to influence people to act. Leaders are able to guide people, creating a vision that they are informed about; they are confident and gain the trust of people; they have enough experience to look at mistakes as another distraction from the way to success; they make people feel more powerful around them. Therefore, in a century of speed where the change and fast flexibility are a sine qua non of success, the organizations need in an equal way both leaders and managers in order to achieve the organizational goals as well as possible.
