Production rate characteristics for activated carbon fabric

2006
The objective of this study is to seek optimal conditions (temperature/gas mixture) for production of porous activated carbon fabric (ACF) when the activation process rate is variable. The results revealed that by decreasing the rate of the activation process, the specific surface area and channels of the product were significantly increased. It was confirmed that pore morphology and pore networks are the main reasons for physical adsorption. High resolution SEM images were used to discover the amounts of iodine adsorbed by ACF, concentrating on iodine which was adsorbed into the cores of ACF fibers.
