Biotransformation of Some Taxoids with Oxygen Substituent at C-14 By Cunninghamella Echinulata

10β-Hydroxy-2α,5α,14β-triacetoxy-4(20),11-taxadiene (1) and 2α,5α,10β-triacetoxy-14β-propionyloxy-4(20),11-taxadiene (2) were specifically hydroxylated to their 6α-hydroxy derivatives by Cunninghamella echinulata AS 31990. 4α,20-Epoxy- and 4β,20-epoxy-2α,5α,10β,14β-tetraacetoxy-tax-11-ene (3) and (4) were only selectively deacetylated at C-10 by this strain. Biotransformation of taxol, baccatin III, 10-deacetylbaccatin III and some other taxane diterpenes by this strain has been also investigated.
