Chip resistor and manufacturing method thereof

The invention relates to a chip resistor and a manufacturing method thereof. The chip resistor comprises a substrate, two back surface electrodes, a resistive layer, two front surface electrodes, a first protective layer, two barrier layers, a second protective layer, two side surface electrodes and at least one plated layer, wherein the first protective layer is arranged above the resistive layer and covers part of the front surface electrodes; the barrier layers are arranged on the front surface electrodes and cover part of the first protective layer; the second protective layer is arranged on the first protective layer and covers part of the barriers layers; and the at least one plated layer covers the barriers layers, the back surface electrodes and the side surface electrodes. Thereby, the corrosion resistance of the chip resistor is high.
