Analysis of Surface Wave Benchmarking Data

2011
Two active and two passive MASW field datasets from the Surface Wave Benchmarking exercise are analyzed. The FK method and the SPAC method are employed to separately generate the dispersion images from active and passive surface waves. Reliable shear wave velocity profiles are obtained from the inversion of dispersion curves using the GA method. The results show the dominant energy of fundamental modes of surface waves in the dispersion images, especially at the high frequency range and the derived profiles from all dispersion curves are quite comparable. The analysis also indicates that the passive surface waves have higher resolution at the low frequency range, while active surface waves work better at the high frequency range.
