Study of high-spin hole states in 143Nd

Abstract The level structure of 143 Nd up to E x = 3.8 MeV has been investigated in the ( 3 He, α) reaction with a 24 MeV 3 He beam. The measured angular distributions have been analyzed with standard DWBA calculations and spectroscopic factors are deduced. Two groups of levels appear to be populated with l = 5 transfers and are tentatively identified as fragments of the 1 h 11 2 −1 state. The observed strength accounts for ∼50% of the sum rule limit of 2 j + 1.
