Detection of organic solvents with reliable chemical sensors based on cellulose derivatives

1995
Abstract Different cellulose derivatives are used as sensitive materials for the detection of different organic solvent vapours by means of quartz-microbalance oscillators and interdigital capacitors. The results show that the sensor responses depend on the temperature-dependent partition coefficients of the organic solvents in the polymers, which are correlated with the Ostwald solubility parameter and the boiling temperature.
