The Indicative Registers of the Royal Society of Chemistry

1991
The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) came into existence in 1980 and fulfils the responsibilities and activities formerly undertaken by four well-known and long-established bodies: the Chemical Society (founded in 1841); the Society for Analytical Chemistry (founded in 1847); the Royal Institute of Chemistry (founded in 1877); and the Faraday Society (founded in 1903). As the sole heir and successor to these bodies, the Royal Society of Chemistry has the longest tradition of any chemical society in the world and has a very full programme in 1991 when it celebrates its sesquicentenary.
