The process of gentrification in cities across North America and Western Europe has been working in recent decades. While the debate in Latin America has been limited, despite the interest shown from studies published in the last decade. Which is why, faced some arguments that attempt to explain the causes of the scarcity of studies in this region. Added to this, and the recent interest derivative, addresses the main characteristics of this process in Latin American cities, which differ from the dominant discourse Anglo-Saxon evident from the case studies in the city of Buenos Aires and Mexico City.
