The Likelihood Ratio Method for Cross-Identification

The Likelihood Ratio (LR) method for Cross-Identification (XID) of sources in dierent astronomical catalogues is introduced, its formalism defined and expressed in formulae, practical issues related to its actual use are detailed, an IDL software implementation is presented and a full example of its application is given.
