Filling of polyethylene by inorganic filler compounds during polymerization on the catalyst system TiCl4(C2H5)2AlCl(C6H5)2Mg

1988
Abstract It is shown that the system TiCl 4 (C 2 H 5 ) 2 AlCl(C 6 H 5 ) 2 Mg is highly efficient and very promising as a catalyst of the filling of polyethylene during the polymerization with inorganic fillers (chalk, marble powder, perlite, kaolin and dolomite). The preliminary activation of the filler, the formation time of the catalyst complex, the Mg/Ti ratio and the concentration of diethyl aluminium chloride are of considerable importance. The polymer crystallinity is practically independent of the nature and amount of filler. The high-molecular polymer compositions obtained are characterized by good physico-chemical properties. The character of the polymers can be modified by mixing high-density polyethylene with polymerized filled polyethylene.
