Parálisis facial periférica como complicación de otitis secretora de la infancia, a propósito de un caso
2012
There are different reports in the literature about the complications of Secretory Otitis (SO) in
childhood but few of them relating to peripheral facial paralysis (PFP). We describe a case of
PFP secondary to an ipsilateral SO in a child under 2 years old admitted to our service. The
patient was treated with medical treatment and surgical transtympanic tube placement with
subsequent resolution of the process and favorable outcome. We report the symptoms,
physical examination findings, laboratory tests, management and evolution, performing a
literature review.
