WGA 1: Mathematics Education in Pre- and Primary School

To capture the dynamic discussion of about 250 participants in Working Group for Action 1: Mathematics Education in Pre-and Primary Schools (WGA1) is a formidable challenge in a brief report such as this. Our hope, however, is that through a summary of topics and highlights of our speakers’ positions and our members’ discussions, we might what the readers’ appetites and they may follow up for more detail on our web site http://www.nku.edu/~sheffield/wga1.html. Because of the brevity of the report, we caution readers not to oversimplify or overgeneralize the points made but to remember that a sentence in this report will inevitably fail to reflect the depth and breadth of the thoughts and dialogues it seeks to summarize.
