La baritina de TOBED
2012
EnglishMineralization of metal sulphides and barite occur often in the Iberian Range; they were operated and abandoned by economic reasons. The barite mine of Tobed was the biggest in size and the last to be abandoned. It is a good example of a mining style that disappeared in this area. Barite mineralization occurs in Paleozoic materials, as veins and pockets; frequently with mechanical contacts and linked to quartz, goethite and hematite. Barite tabular crystals can reach 10 cm in length.
