RNA and inflammatory autoimmune diseases

Abstract Autoimmune diseases are immune disorders wherein the immune system acts against self proteins and lead to chronic inflammation and tissue abnormalities. Most of these diseases have genetic and epigenetic causes yet the role of RNA has been recently been postulated. In the present chapter we discuss the various types of RNA molecules and their potential role in pathogenesis and progression of autoimmunity and inflammation.
