Clinical efficacy of treating spinal stenosis by semi-laminectomy laminectomy decompression and interbody fusion

2012
Objective To investigate clinical efficacy of laminectomy in the treatment of degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis. Methods Forty-three patients were treated with semi-laminectomy or decompression laminectomy according to the stusofspinalstenosis. Those with lumbar instability, spondylolishtesis, scoliosis and decompression with extensive destruction of small joints require internal fixation and bone grafting. All the patients were followed up for 6 to 36 months, with an average of 25.6 months. Results According to MODI,the results were excellent in 27 cases, good in 12 cases, fair in 4 cases and poor in 1 case. The excellent and good rate was 90.7%.The rate of complete remission of pain was 82.2%(23/28).The rate of improved claudication was 85.7%(12/14).For the 26 patients with sensory disabilities,21 cases were found with complete ecovery(80.7%),4 cases semi complete recovery in 15.4%,and 1 case with no significant recovery(3.9%). Conclusion According to the status of spinal stenosis,to use semilaminectomy or decom-pression laminectomy for treating lumbar spinal stenosisis effective.
