Changes of leukocyte and its VCS parameters in peripheral blood of hyperthyroidism patients

2010
Objective To analyze the changes of leukocyte and its VCS parameters in peripheral blood of hyperthyroidism patients. Methods Leukocyte in peripheral blood of 60 hyperthyroidism patients were detected by using Beckman Coulter LH750 hematology analyzer, meanwhile classification and VCS parameters of leukocyte were analyzed. Results The relative and absolute counting of monocytes in 60 hyperthyroidism patients were(9.0 ±3.1)% 、(4.8 ± 1.9) × 108/L respectively, which were significantly higher than those of healthy eontrols(P <0.01 ). LMR,neutrophil V means and lymphocyte C means were decreased in hyperthyroidism patients. The sensitivity and specificity of LMR were 72.7% ,50.8% ( cutoff = 4.0) respectively. Neutrophil V means and lymphocyte C means showed a high sensitivity for the diagnosis of hyperthyroidism ( areas under the ROC curves were 0.629、0.706 respectively). Conclusion An increased monocytes and a decreased LMR ration were found in hyperthyroidism patients, which made leukocyte and its VCS parameters contribute to diagnose of hyperthyroidism.
