Physiotherapy in palliative care - treatment of pain and respiratory disorders

The authors discussed the occurrence of pain in palliative care patients. They briefly characterized the classification of these ailments, stressing that their treatment uses pharmacotherapy, non-pharmacological methods and complementary methods. The basic method of pain treatment is pharmacology. Radiotherapy or chemotherapy, which can modify the progression of the disease, is also used to treat pain. They are carried out also in the treatment of such treatments neuro-destructive. Neurolysis or radiofrequency. In addition, psychological methods are used, e.g. relaxation or behavioral therapy. In the further part of the article, attention was focused on physiotherapeutic methods to combat pain. Most patients with palliative care also have respiratory problems. The most common symptom of increasing respiratory failure is shortness of breath. And here, physical rehabilitation plays an important role. The respiratory rehabilitation program includes breathing exercises, presentations of the appropriate breathing track, relaxation breathing techniques, and effective coughing. All these issues have been discussed in more detail in the article by the authors.
