Nano-spider-web-like electrospun fibers of europium complexes doped polyvinylpyrrolidone for medical suture

2018
Abstract Eu(BA) (TTA) 2 /PVP and Eu(BA) (TTA) 2 Phen/PVP are electrospun into nano-spider-web-like fibers with diameters about 100–300 nm. Differential luminescence behaviors are revealed under ultraviolet (UV) radiation and effectiveness of Phen ligand is verified in enhancing red emission behavior. Total emission photon number and luminous efficacy are derived to be 7.96 × 10 13 cps and 9.91%lm/W in Eu(BA) (TTA) 2 Phen/PVP fiber, respectively, which are 1.4 times higher than those of Eu(BA) (TTA) 2 /PVP fiber under the excitation of 367 nm UVA light emitting diode (UVA-LED) pump source. Similar results on absolute spectral parameters of the tri-ligand fibers under the excitation of 308 nm UVB light emitting diode (UVB-LED) further support the availability of europium-complexes/PVP spider-web-like fibers for red-light therapy. Improved emission behavior and higher photon emission indicate that europium-complexes/PVP spider-web-like fibers can play a positive role in absorbable and curative medical sutures.
