Volume Measurements of Ferrite Magnesium Cast Iron during Heating

1972
Abstract : The cast irons under study (C 3.0, Si 2.35, Mn 0.50, S 0.014, P 0.055, and Mg 0.063 wt. %), after graphitization annealing and specimen preparation, were tempered for 5 hr at 600 degrees and then cooled in water or with the furnace. Specimens cooled in water were tempered additionally for 5 hr at 200-600 degrees at 100 degrees intervals, each time with cooling in water. After this, the dilatometric study was made and the mean coefficient of linear expansion was calculated.
