Functional Results and Survival of Femorotibial Partial Knee Arthroplasty

Unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) represents a valid option in patients whose osteoarthritis is limited to one compartment of the knee. However, survivorship and functional results of UKA have been mixed, mainly due to indications and patient selection. This chapter will analyze the clinical results of UKA inside a number of clusters or patient comorbidities. UKAs in the medial and lateral compartment will be analyzed independently, as well as clinical results of UKAs in the young and elderly patients. Obesity and concomitant patellofemoral arthritis are two additional controversial comorbidities, which are described separately.
