Lumbar and Sacral Radiculitis

2017
Lumbosacral radiculopathy in many forms can occasionally manifest as urogenital pain. Etiologies can vary from musculoskeletal, such as disc herniation, to mechanical compression, to other atypical pathologies. A thorough history and physical examination, coupled with various imaging modalities, aid in establishing a diagnosis. Treatment is multifactorial and includes a multitude of interventional techniques, such as lumbar epidural steroid injections. Occasionally, medial branch blocks are used, and if successful radiofrequency ablation can be used as a more permanent treatment. The details of each pathology and the numerous treatments will be discussed in more detail in this chapter.
