Development of a Novel Technology for Label-Free DNA Sequencing

Abstract : The accurate detection of biological material, such as antibodies, proteins or deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA), is currently receiving much attention for applications in molecular biology, medical sciences and military defense. Physical methods, such as infrared (IR) spectroscopy and THz spectroscopy, have been investigated for the detection of biological (bio) and organic materials. It is the goal of the proposed research to develop the theoretical foundation for the development of an optical/quasi-optical based technology for label free DNA sequencing or RNA expressions.
