Oxidation of secondary and tertiary amines by a solid base catalyst

Abstract A novel recyclable protocol is developed for the oxidation of secondary and tertiary amines to nitrones and amine N -oxides, respectively, by Mg-Al- O t Bu hydrotalcite (HT- O t Bu ) catalyst, and benzonitrile as an additive in methanol using 30% hydrogen peroxide at a faster rate in quantitative yields for the first time.
