Multimaterial piezoelectric fibres — Fibers that can hear and sing

We present a novel technique of using thermal drawing approaches to create piezoelectric fibers that allows electrical modulation of acoustic and optical property of micro-structured fibers. Large-area piezoelectric fabrics with dynamically-controlled optical responses are envisioned.
