An open source and practical approach to X2X linux workload migration

Migration of workloads from one infrastructure to another infrastructure is an important operational activity in today’s datacenters. Workload migration may be necessitated due to aging hardware or to optimize the resource in under or over utilized hardware or when organizations like startups have a need to scale their infrastructure up or out. Existing workload migration solution have limitation mostly because their focus is only on Intel/AMD architectures and most of them only support P2V or V2V migration. Most of these solutions have proprietary licenses. In this work we are presenting a proof of concept for X2X linux workload migration. This is an open source approach and is valid for all kind of hardware architectures like intel, power, sparc, ARM, mainframe and others.
