Analiza i interpretacija facijesa i taložnih okoliša gornjopaleogenskih naslaga na području Maslenice

2019
This thesis encompasses the Promina beds in the area of Maslenica in northern Dalmatia. In this area the sedimentary succession mostly comprises carbonate conglomerates, calcarenites and limestones. The succession is well-exposed and relatively undisturbed, which enabled the interpretation of facies, facies associations, determination of flooding surfaces and surfaces of forced regression, which served to interpret depositional environments and relative changes of sea level in this part of the Promina basin. The studied sedimentary succession was deposited in the north-eastern part of the Novigrad sub-basin in a range of depositional environments, which include fan delta slopes, gravel beaches, shoreface zone, offshore-transition zone and more distal environments where biogenic carbonate sedimentation was possible. Flooding surfaces and surfaces of forced regression indicate frequent relative changes of sea level, which were probably caused by tectonics due to the uplift of the Dinaric Orogen and the development of the Dinaric Foreland Basin.
