New possibilities of X-ray studies of planar defects and their role in phase transformations

The improved theory of diffraction from crystals containing planar defects is briefly reviewed. Examples that illustrate new possibilities of X-ray diffraction studies of planar imperfections and their role in the processes of phase transformations are given.
