Effect of Some Parameters on the Elastoplastic Behavior of Green Sand

2004
The behavior of the casting sands at high temperatures (up to 600°C) is experimentally presented. Based on a parametric study, the predictions are well discussed and compared with the experimental results. Triaxial compression tests at different temperatures (20 to 600 °C) were performed in foundry sand (Ami Saada et al., 1996, Ami Saada 1997, Ami Saada et al, 1999). They have shown that the material strength is governed by the presence of bentonite and water. For the green sand at the temperature range from 20 to 300°C, Three elastoplastic models are considered in this study. Especially, the effects of some parameters on the mechanical behavior of the casting sands are investigated, such as preconsolidation pressure P P0 .
