Survey on the hypertension and cognitive function of the elderly at Old Folks' Home in Chongqing

Objective To study the Chongqing city homes for the elderly hypertension and cognitive function,in order to find out the hypertension and cognitive function correlation to provide the reference.Methods With randomly stratified cluster sampling method,230 elderly were extracted from 11 each home of Chongqing 60 and over,through one-on-one face to face survey method.The old nutrition health questionnaires and simple intelligent status scale(MMSE) investigation were used.Results In line with the conditions of the 230 older people,there were 134(58.26%) patients with hypertension,151 people(65.65%) with cognitive impairment,including 16.08% mild cognitive impairment,49.57% moderate to severe cognitive impairment.Whether suffering from high blood pressure and cognitive status of different was statistically significant(P0.05).Conclusions The survey of Chongqing City nursing home elderly persons with cognitive status is poor,the prevalence of hypertension is high,at this point,the proposal nursing home should be taken measures to improve the old people's health,so as to improve cognitive status.
