The impact of the crisis on population and reproductive health in Thailand.

This paper discusses the 1997 economic crisis in Thailand and its impact on government administration and the achievement of population goals. A brief background on the Thai national policies and programs are summarized. This is followed by a discussion on the origin developments and prospects of the economic crisis and the general impact of the crisis on government administration. Thereafter there is a discussion on the impact of the crisis on population and development goals particularly on the issues of poverty education employment and migration. The next section deals with the effects on family and gender equity and on health and family planning. The paper concludes with recommendations on resource mobilization and proposals for modification of the UN Population Fund country program.
