Data Storage Magnetometer

1989
A data storing proton magnetometer, which can be used either as a field instrument or as an unattended base station magnetometer at programmable intervals is described. It is based on a 8085 microprocessor and stores different field parameters like line number, station number, real time and magnetic field value in a separate battery backed up semiconductor memories (RAM).All the parameters can be displayed selectively on 5 digit LCD display. The same can also be printed on Epson-360 compact printer. Parallel interface has been developed to transfer the data to EPROMS through a microprocessor kit for permanent storage. Special software has been developed to transfer the data from EPROMS to VAX-11/750 to enable data processing and interpretation. This instrument was tested both in the laboratory and in the field and the results were satisfactory.
