Elder Abuse in Israeli Society – Legislative Acts and Special Services

2020
The demographic structure of developed societies is changing, and rates of older persons are constantly increasing. Thus, Article 25 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights the European Union already recognised and respected the rights of older people to lead a life of dignity and independence, and to participate in social and cultural life. Accordingly, the challenge today and for the future will be to tackle this demographic change in an affirmative way, eschewing any sense of old age being a burden on society or posing a threat to the individual.
