Realization of AWG Based on FPGA

To produce the simple waveform with stable and controllable frequency,this paper presents a kind of arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) based on direct digital synthesizer(DDS) by using field-programmable gate (FPGA).The system platform of AWG is constructed on the SEED-XDTK FPGA experiment box.The DDS part is accomplished in FPGA chip with hardware discription language (Verilog-HDL).The AWG can generate sine wave,square wave and sawtooth wave signal in arbitrary frequencies. Then the waves are simulated in ModelSim software,and finally the representative sine wave in 1.5625MHz is shown on the digital oscilloscope.The reliability of this method is practical in signal processing.
