Research on Feasibility of Distributed Energy Resource Based Virtual Power Plant

V30 power plant is one of the effective ways of integrating distributed power sources into power distribution networks in a secure, reliable, and economical manner. This paper summarizes and describes the concept, operational principle, and controlling methods of virtual power plant as well as the difference between virtual power plant and micro grid. The applications and advantages of virtual power plant in integrating resource, power market trade and demand response are introduced. Finally, the key technologies needed to develop virtual power plants and the prospects of virtual power plants are analyzed.
