[Stimulation of LH excretion using retroprogesterone Ro 4-8347]

The effects of retroprogesterone (Ro 4-8347) on urinary LH excretion were studied in 24 women with menstrual cycle irregularities. It was shown that retroprogesterone administration resulted in an increased LH secretion due to diencephalic-hypophyseal stimulation. The estent of this stimulation effect is related to the dose and duration of treatment. The effect in severe endocrine disease is smaller than in less severe cycle abnormalities for the same dose.(AUTHORS MODIFIED)
