BIASES IN SIGNALS FOR INTERMITTENCY DETECTED IN HIGH ENERGY COLLISIONS

It is shown that statistical as well as systematic biases may distort the estimates of factorial moments of multiplicity distributions in high energy nuclear collisions. Great caution should be used in interpreting and comparing results of different experiments aimed at the observation of effects due to intermittency.
