XAFS Analysis of Sm2Fe17Nx Magnetic Compounds

Sm2Fe17Nx magnetic compounds were obtained by nitrogenation in NH3-H2 mixed-gas atmosphere; the local structure around central Sm atom in the compounds was studied from XAFS analysis. It was suggested that three or more N atoms are situated at the first neighbor of Sm atom, forming a distorted local structure around Sm atom in the Sm2Fe17N4.5 compound.
