Determination of Seven Components in Gold-Bearing Quartz by X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry

2011
A rapid analysis method has been developed to determine seven components in Au-bearing quartz(SiO2,Al2O3,TFe2O3,CaO,MgO,Pb and Zn) by SHIMADZU MXF-2400 wavelength dispersive multi-channel X-ray fluorescence spectrometry using the powder-briquetting technique.Based on the range of SiO2 content in quartz, the matrix matched artificial synthesis samples were selected as calibration samples to optimize the instrument parameters by chemical method.Since the fluorescence intensity is very sensitive to grain size for the light elements of Si and Al,the calibration samples need to be preserved in a sealed condition and the powder tabletting should be prepared immediately before measurement. This method has the advantages of simple operation, low cost, wide determination range and high sensitivity. The relative standard deviations are all less than 2.5%.The results are consistent with those obtained by other chemical methods.
