Help save the DTB

Like motherhood and apple pie, the Drug and Therapeutics Bulletin (DTB) has established itself as an inherently ‘good thing’ among prescribers in the NHS. While it is sometimes controversial in its views, it is generally well respected and seen as offering another opinion alongside the considerable volume of promotional material that we receive. Now the DTB is under threat because the DoH has decided not to renew its contract with the publishers, Which? This means that free paper copies of the publication will no longer go out to health professionals in the NHS, and free electronic access will be lost, unless local purchasing takes over. In a cash-strapped NHS, there seems little possibility of this happening at present and, therefore, the DTB may struggle to survive. Copyright © 2006 Wiley Interface Ltd
