Mass Prophylaxis Dispensing Concerns: Traffic and Public Access to PODs

2011
The authors used a Monte Carlo simulation to explore traffic flow and parking around points of dispensing (PODs) that could be used to distribute postexposure prophylaxis in the event of a bioterror attack. They examined the consequences of people arriving at a steady rate versus a nonuniform rate and the implications for parking, wait times, length of queues, traffic congestion, and use of POD workers.
