A process for preparing a compound chelated metal or a salt thereof, comprising the steps of: a) contacting a liquid composition containing a metal ion component with a solid support, to form a chelate carrier metal; b) contacting said chelate carrier with metal with a liquid composition containing a chelating agent aminocarboxylic or a salt thereof. wherein said component metal ion is selected from organic and inorganic metal salts both as hydrate as anhydrous and the metal ion is selected from the group consisting of: a transition metal, a lanthanide, aluminum (III), gallium (III ), indium (III), tin (II) and lead (II).
