Modelling Transformer Magnetisation Characteristics for Harmonic Studies

Modem transformer cores are designed to operate very close to the knee point of the saturation characteristic and, therefore, the magnetising currents contribute substantially to the harmonic content. Good representation of the magnetisation characteristics is thus important in harmonic studies. This paper shows that the application of cubic spline techniques provides a simple and very' accurate solution to the problem.
