Interphase dielectric properties of LDPE-TiO2 nanocomposites

2019
The frequency dependent dielectric response of the filler-polymer interphase of LDPE-TiO2 nanodielectrics is estimated in this paper. Nanodielectrics with spherical nanoparticles and with rod-like nanoparticles were analysed in this work. The approach is that of an inverse problem, aiming to find the most appropriate frequency dependence of the interphase complex permittivity so that the numerically determined effective complex permittivity of the nanodielectric be as close as possible to that determined by dielectric spectroscopy. The results for spherical nanoparticles are in line with the ones obtained previously for other nanodielectrics and validate the usefulness of the proposed procedure to estimate the interphase dielectric response for nanodielectrics with spherical particles. In the case of the nanodielectric with rod-like particles the procedure needs further adjustments to better account for the influence of electric field inside nanoparticles on the interphase dielectric response.
